Google Gadgets

I have added a Google Gadgets section to MAAW. Some gadgets are useful, some are interesting, some are fun to play, some are amusing, and some are just silly, but it is that time of year.

Check them out at http://maaw.info/GadgetsMain.htm.

How to reference a web page without a date.

A frequently asked question: How do I reference a web page that does not have a date?

I found the following answer on the Chicago Manual of Style web site.

"Chicago style uses “N.d.” to mean “No date” at the beginning of such an entry. You can put all the N.d. items together at the top or bottom of that author’s works, arranged in alphabetical order by title".

An example, as I interpret this rule is as follows:

Martin, J. R. (N.d.) What is a Cost Accounting System? http://maaw.info/5partsofcostsystem.htm

The World is Flat

I made some notes on an MIT video related to Friedman's book The World is Flat. In the video Friedman explains what the book's title means and how the world became flat. He talks about three stages or eras of globalization and ten flatteners.

How is this relevant to accounting? One example: Although I didn't include this in my notes, in one part of the video, Friedman mentions the number of tax returns that have been done in either China or India. I think these were U.S. tax returns but you will have to listen to the video find out.

I commend MIT for allowing us to watch Friedman's presentation and recommend the video to everyone. See my note at http://maaw.info/ArticleSummaries/ArtSumFriedmanFlatWorld05.htm
